Judges have selected the eight student teams who will compete in the 2019 BFX Competition. The competitors will be challenged to create a brand film for the four selected charities who stand to benefit from this festival collaboration.

This year’s teams are; Clean Up Your Mesh (Ulster University), Hurricane Tortilla (Ravensbourne University), Last Minute (Arts University Bournemouth), Lower The Horizon (Dundee University), Riggaz With Attitude (Bournemouth University), Secret of PLIMM (Dundee University), Strawberry Pandemic (Bournemouth University), and The Daicon Five (Arts University Bournemouth).

The teams, each comprising of five members, can now start working on their charity briefs supplied by the BFX team in conjunction with Child Bereavement UK, Kentish Town City Farm, Sane and Step Up to Serve.

Over the next couple of months, the teams will begin preparation of their storyboards, animatics and character designs and will receive initial feedback on these ideas from the charities concerned. Once this preparatory work is completed, the residential competition will run for seven weeks over the summer, hosted at Bournemouth University. Throughout the competition, the entrants will be mentored and judged by industry experts from top animation production companies in the UK.

The winning team of BFX Competition 2019 will be announced in October, at the BFX Festival’s award ceremony. All selected films will be adopted by the four charities to promote their work and in previous years have even been screened on British television.
