Week one of the 2015 BFX Competition was full on with all the teams hitting the ground running. Wednesday saw the teams taking part in an excellent early morning Skype mentoring session with Will Reichelt from Animal Logic in Sydney, this was followed by Konstantin Gaytandziev from Chaos Group in Sophia, who gave an incredible V-Ray tutorial using several team’s proxy assets.
On Thursday we hit overload with the arrival on campus of our competition sponsor Kingston Smith; they brought representatives from Dyslexia Action and The Anthony Nolan Trust – the two charities that will be recipients of the teams’ completed films. This coincided with our first mentoring day and a big thank you goes out to MPC’s Simon Jones, Danny Duke from Outpost VFX, Maxim Fleury of D Neg, Jerry Hibbert and Paul Campion, all of whom went the extra mile (120 in some cases) to support the teams. Magazine 3D Artist were there to document the day’s activity and we’ll be posting links to their video interviews very soon.
Thursday was topped off with a fantastic BBQ on the beach at Sandbanks with Saf taking time out as Competition Director to do all the cooking!
