The BFX team joined forces with the BBC at the Bournemouth Air Festival to teach people how to make their own animations

The specialised tent consisting of the BFX team and the BBC’s Make it Digital Tour was at the Bournemouth Air Festival 2015 last weekend.

The BFX team, made up of staff from Bournemouth University, ran animation workshops during the day with an Air Show theme and gave a presentation screening the day’s work; this was part of The Digital Discovery Zone, which hosted a range of activities for all ages.

The tent provided black and white line drawings of planes, which children coloured in and decorated before they were helped to produce short animated sequences against a cartoon sky background.

Peter Truckle, director of the VFX Hub, he said: “In all we made around 60 different clips and these were screened at the end of the event, they will also be on the BBC make it digital website (coming soon). The weather was an issue on Sunday morning but by noon the sun came out as did the crowds, all in all it was a really good (but very tiring) two days!”
